THERAPEUTIC ORIENTATION

Dr. Osvold stays current through reading and training on empirically-supported
and evidence-based treatments. She uses the following orientations, depending
on the nature and severity of the issue presented, as well as on the individual needs of the client.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (for example: mood disorders, anxiety, phobias, panic disorders, OCD)
  • Prolonged-exposure therapy (PTSD, OCD)
  • Solution-focused therapy (useful for couples, families, and for individuals)
  • Education-based communication skills (couples)
  • Developmental (parent-training, adolescents, family therapy, addictions)

Dr. Osvold considers herself first a Constructivist, however, which means her first and ongoing focus is to understand the thinking and experience of the client.
